End of the year already?

Just felt like doing a blog post on this awesome day! First off, oh my goodness, last day of class??? How is it already May 4th? (May the fourth be with you. I'm not even a Star Wars fan.) Time goes by so fast now, it's unreal. I have two finals this semester, and I'm doing as much studying as I can; even meeting with a friend in Arlington at 8am to study math. I would usually say that calls for a non-fat tall cafe latte from Starbucks, but I think I'll be ok passing it up. I'll just have a good green smoothie on the road to wake me up :) Today was kind of a weird day, eating-wise. Breakfast was a delicious fruit smoothie (orange, strawberries, mango, banana) and a granola bite a little later in the day, followed by half a veggie sandwich from Cafe Brazil. But I didn't have dinner tonight. My friends and I went to go see 'The Avengers' (don't worry, I'll get to that later) and the movie was like.. 4:00-6:30, so right in dinner time. But, that's ok. We went to Walgreens before to get some cheap movie candy. Usually I would get something like Hersheys or Reeses or something, but after looking at the nutrition label, I opted out of that one. With something like 25 grams of sugar and 30% fat? No thanks! Instead I got some Twizzlers, which I think I only had 3 or 4? I was too distracted by the EYE candy and awesomeness in the movie instead. Twizzlers had 2% fat, and less sugar than the other candies. I know, it's not good to eat candy, but I made a compromising decision on my usual movie treats.

And now to the movie. OH MY GOSH. I had such a good time! Even within the first few minutes, I was just smiling so much because it's finally here!! And ok, I have a slight confession to make: I love all the characters and actors. Captain America was so cute and old-fashioned and chivalrous, Iron Man was hilarious as usual, and Thor was just, well, THOR, but I was really totally and completely surprised by something...

I think I was rooting for the bad guy!

I'm not gonna say necessarily 'rooting,' but yeah, this guy was awesome! In a total evil, badass way, that I usually don't go for in movies. I saw the character Loki in 'Thor' and thought he was a really good character, but in 'Avengers...' DUDE. He stepped up his game! He was this total monster really, but at the same time, he was hilarious! I'm pretty sure some of my favorite scenes were with him, just because they were so epic! Steve Rogers will always hold a special place in my heart (especially when he geeked out about knowing a 'Wizard of Oz' reference. Adorable!) but I might be a Loki fangirl now... uh oh! (seriously, totally surprised here, man!) I mean, he does have the British accent, but... he's psycho!

Anyway, I thought it was a really fun film. It was so exciting to watch, that I still feel a bit on Cloud 9.

After I got back from the movie, I thought, "You know what? If I can make time to see a movie and have lunch with friends, then I can certainly make time to go to the gym! No more excuses!" It was good to be back. Did some running on the treadmill, did some elliptical and then did stretches. Not much, but it's a start. It's nice to feel sore again. Silly as it sounds, I already feel better and happier about my body! Like, obviously, nothing changed since that workout, but it just boosts your confidence and self esteem or something! Just need to keep at it so there will be ACTUAL results!

So yes, that was my fabulous Friday! Good movie, good class and studying, lunch with friends, and gym time.

Quick sum-up of 'Avengers':
I'd give it either a 8.5 or 9 out of 10. Even with doing my research and being a total fan of the movie, I was a little confused about what exactly was going on for the first 15 minutes or so. But of course, it all tied in together eventually. It's not one I would see in 3-D again, but I'm glad I did. I think with so much fast-paced close up fighting, it's just too much to see in 3-D. Even though I didn't want to admit it, it did give me a slight headache sometimes. It had great lines and I will definitely be seeing it again soon! And of course, adding it to my superheroes movie collection.

Fav lines I remember:

Tony: "And meanwhile, Loki's building his army of flying monkeys-"
Steve: "I get it!!! I get that reference!" (dork.)

Bruce: "That's my secret. I'm always angry." (poor guy!)

Iron Man to Hawkeye: "Hold on, Legolas!" (I'm always up for a Lord of the Rings joke!)

Tony in reference to Thor and Loki's language: "What is this? Shakespeare In The Park??"

Agent Coulson: "So that's what it does." (not necessarily this quote, but this moment.)

Captain America: "Ma'am, there is only one God, and I don't think he looks like that!" (So, Cap's a Christian?? nice!)

Loki: "ENOUGH! You are all beneath me. I am a god, you dull creature, and I will not be bullied by a-- " (well, what happened next was awesome, hilarious, and just perfect!)
